BOKAMOSO EVENTS

Each year, from early January to mid February, youth from the Bokamoso Youth Centre in Winterveldt, South Africa come to the Washington, D.C. area as part of the Cultural Exchange and Performing Arts Program.  While here they perform songs, dances, poetry, and tell their stories in a number of different locations.  By early November we will post, on this page, the dates, times and venues for the Bokamoso performances.  Between now and then we have noted an number of important dates related to events and holidays in South Africa.  Check them out.

Bokamoso Performance At George Washington University – Please plan to join us for a fabulous and inspiring evening of Bokamoso performance at the Marvin Betts Theater in the Student Centre at GWU.  The youth will present a play called Timon of Winterveldt – based on Shakespeare’s Timon of Athens – depicting the challenges and triumphs of life in the township of Winterveldt, where the Bokamoso Life Centre is located.  Bokamoso will also perform a number of traditional South African songs and dances.  This is an annual event not to be missed.  This year there will only be one performance – on Friday January 31st – so secure your ticket here (link to be provided).  Tickets are $35 General Admission; $10 for Students and Seniors.
